Neil Young on Fresh Air

There was a guy called Link Wray. And he had a group called the Wraymen and they played a song called Rumble. In about the early 60’s, and that was like a very distorted sounding guitar that was just hairy. I mean it was great. I heard that… and I wanted to play like that.

Neil Young on Fresh Air talking about the influence surf-guitar legend Link Wray had on his sound. Great example of a young Neil stealing like an artist until he found his own voice. So stoked that Young and Crazyhorse are back together in the studio and will be releasing their latest album, Psychedelic Pill at the end of October.
